What Matters This Month: August 2023
August, the 8th month on the Gregorian calendar , named for the first Roman Emperor Augustus Caesar is is our last full month of summer before many of us prepare for the fall and get back to serious business and school. There are no official holidays this month but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing going on.
What to Celebrate
If you are a Twin or Multiple, the Annual Twins Day weekend is happening in Twinsburg Ohio, August 4th - 6th. Its the largest annual gathering of twins and multiples in the world. Non twins welcome!
Celebrate your Family (or at least the ones and part that you like) August is Family Fun Month get out there and enjoy those last dog days of summer.
What to Buy
Back to School Supplies. Low cost items like notebooks and crayons, in addition to expensive ones like laptops are all on sale. Look on your state’s Department of Revenue website to find out when or if there’s a TAX-FREE shopping weekend this month and increase your savings.
Backyard products. Now that summer is winding down so are the prices for outdoor equipment like lawn furniture, lawnmowers and seasonal quipment like grills.
Swimsuits. In the market for a new swimsuit? Now is the time to buy - huge markdowns on beachware, swimwear and accessories. Stock up for next summer or that winter escape you are planning.

What to Put on Your To-Do List
Find you a cozy spot under the stars to view the night sky. The Annual Perseid Meteor Shower lights up the night sky this month. The peak days are August 12-13. However, You can see them for a couple of weeks before and after this date.
This is the month to load up on back to school supplies or if you just fancy school supplies and have a mild planner obsession.
This is also a good time of year to have your car serviced or just evaluated - check tires, change/replace windsheild wiper blades and stuff like that.
National Waffle Day is Aug. 24. Find your way to the Waffle house or your favorite waffle seller and see what kind of freebie there might be!
